Aracruz Celulose

Tamtron Systems has delivered wood measuring system among others to Aracruz mill in Brazil. Our wood measuring system weighs the wood and its grain efficiently and economically when wood arrives to the mill. The system automates and improves the sampling process. Every crane has an easy to use vehicle PC which sends the weighing information via radio modem to the customer’s own ERP system. The wood measuring system can be used in all crane types and the standard system can be customized according to customer needs. To be able to secure the optimal use of the system Tamtron Systems offers also update and maintenance service.

The wood measuring system guarantees optimal handling of wood for the customer. The system makes it possible to take samples from every load, because there is no need for time consuming handmade measurement. Because of automation the whole process becomes significantly faster.

The development of the system was started in 1993 and the first deliveries were made in the same year. Since then the equipment has been developed in terms of electronics and software to meet the customer requirements. Besides Finland we operate in various markets. The system is in use at mills in Brazil and Portugal.

Camrail

Tamtron Systems has delivered Silver Point+ - railway scale among others to Cameroon State Railways

Silver Point+ is the most modern solution for the automatic monitoring of wagon weights and loads. Overweight and incorrectly loaded wagons are not only a safety risk but they also cause premature wearing of the rails, thus shortening the life time and increasing the maintenance costs of the railroads. Tamtron Systems has the right solution for this problem; Silver Point+.

In 2007 Camrail, the railway operator in Cameroon, purchased two automatic Silver Point+ control scales to increase the safety of the rail traffic. One scale was installed in Douala, located on the coast, and the other one in the centre of the country in Belabo. Silver Point+ train scale was used in both locations to automatically detect overweighed or incorrectly loaded wagons.

Each wagon and locomotive was equipped with RFID tags, installed on their bottom. The trains pass the scale with the speed of 1–20 km/h. Silver Point measurement sensors weigh, and a RFID reader installed between the rails identifies the passing train. This information is then sent to the Camrail’s information system. If there are overweighed or incorrectly loaded wagons the system alerts Camrail personnel so that these wagons are removed from the train.

Every tag has a unique code which is used to identify the wagon. The information system of the customer and the RailPRO II train weighing system contain identification information of the wagon (e.g. wagon number and tare weight). The RFID identification saves time and costs because the customer does not have to insert information of each wagon separately in to the information system.

Camrail was born out of the privatization of the Cameroon national railways initiated by the Cameroon government. Nowadays the company is part of the French Bollore Group. Camrail has a fleet of 1300 wagons and 50 locomotives and it operates on the 1100 kilometers long Cameroon railroad network.
